Utilities help small businesses become energy efficient
Linda McCoy's utility representative has helped her find thousands of dollars in savings through the utility's rebate program. From air-conditioner cleaning to bathroom remodeling, McCoy has been able to save her employer, the Holiday Inn Express and Suites on South Conway Road, big money on recent renovations. The hotel, a small-business power customer of St. Petersburg-based Florida Power Corp., also known as Progress Energy Florida, got a rebate of $960 on new air-conditioning units. The hotel also got a rebate of $1,600 off the cost of getting their air-conditioners cleaned. And the hotel might get more money back from replacement lighting, McCoy said. .
